Fall Reflections

With the summer over and the Fall officially here, I'm now in a state of self-reflection and evaluation. What's interesting about this is, this happens to me every year as far back as I can remember. Looking back on 2005, I reflect upon all my experiences, encounters and memories. Within a brief span of time, I've exceeded the number of weekend dance venues I originally planned, made new friends as well gained a dance partner whom all share in the joy and journey of dance, experienced my dance ability move forward in some aspects while moving back on others, and recently performed a group WCS dance routine at my dance studio as well as a local WCS venue. Now looking forward, I have 2 remaining dance venues (Boogie and Swingin NE) to attend with plans to perform once again at Swingin NE with guidance from my instructor and friend, Hazel. This doesn't include the upcoming Mario and Skippy Intensives. Eventhough it's been a financial drain, I have no regrets about it. It's been a blast. Of course for 2006, I really do need to curb some things as well as pursue other aspects of my life that I've put on hold more or less for 2005.

Post Weekend Update

Well a new week has started. Did the performance on Friday and it went well. No major slip ups. Afterwards, we all got together for some pickle shots and lots of dancing. Now we're getting ready for the next performance on Wednesday so practice session tonight and tomorrow. We'll have to see where Hazel wants to take this.

Saturday - errands and lots of sleep. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sunday - went to Alex's Westie Jam. Great dinner and interesting discussion on what we think makes a great dance experience. Very inciteful to hear on each other's perspective. Some were more technical while others were more philosophical but all came to the same conclusion.

R U Ready?

It's been awhile since I posted here. Well tonight's the night. Two months ago I joined up for Hazel's WCS Performance Class. After hours and hours of practice, we're performing tonight at Stepping Out Studios as well as The Saloon next week. There's even discussion of performing at Swingin New England. YIKES!

Regardless of the butterflies in my stomach right now, the experience has been great and am looking forward to showcasing the routine tonight. It's an awesome routine which we're performing to the song "Boogie 2 Nite" by Tweet. Hopefully I don't make any major mistakes. Otherwise, my talented and beautiful dance partner, Christina [have to say it since she might read this post. =p] will give me THE LOOK and matrix - my a**!

Mad Hot Ballroom

Went to the first showing of "Mad Hot Ballroom" on Friday at Cinema 1,2,3 on 60th and 3rd Avenue. And I have to say it was a movie worth the $10.50 I paid for. I even spent money at the concession stands which I rarely do. The highlight of the movie was at the end where the stars and some of the production staff showed up and was available for Q&A.
